How about if they hire someone to spin records forwards and backwards, 
making a rythmic 'scratching' sound, and take turns cutting on each 
other in a free style, matching couplets?  You could call the people 
with the records "disk jockeys" and the whole event a "rap battle" -- I 
dunno why, the names just seem to fit somehow.
