Then, with all due respect to Tom, that's stupid.  If characters are to be
considered part of a family (which he's said they are), then it logically
follows that they would at least partially be judged by their family.  I can
understand that some people might take it a little too far and so a blanket
"no judging by family" is necessary, but still.  A lot of these rule
problems would be cleared up by consistency.
