Take it from probably one of the few people who's ruled two realms on the
same island at once.  You have grand designs for how you can make your
characters diametrically opposed, but simply _because_ it's the same person
behind the characters, very few people are willing to get behind the RP for
such a thing.  I ruled on FEI in a truth/justice/holier than thou realm and
also one whose evils put OT to shame.  None of the other realms/rulers
wanted to touch the relationship, and basically ignored it.  I was actually
accused of trying to do the _opposite_ of what a "typical" player would do-
dragging down realm relationships simply because of bad family
relationships.

I learned it's better to have one in power, and one with less, swaying the
council one way or the other.
