Dwilight is designed to be a more strictly medieval atmosphere. Where
nobles are more empowered, forms of addressing should be strict etc.

Anyway, this is not a primer for Dwilight but instead my thoughts on
the playing on that continent. I have a character on Dwilight. So far,
it is been /mostly/ fun with a lot of intrigue and scheming. And with
so many rogue regions to expand to, colonise etc, everyone is so much
more ambition.
However some issues I have noticed in that realm is that following the
"Serious Medieval Atmosphere" is equivalent to the ruler being mostly
powerless. In RP terms and not game mechanic terms.
- The ruler is addressed by the title but beyond that nothing. He
is/can be insulted at will without any repercussions (and he of course
is powerless to do anything).
- If you are ruler, it is the in thing to oppose you. Why? Because you
can always get away with it.
- Everyone wants a democracy in monarchy.
- Power to the nobles means they have free speech and can say anything
to the whole realm. It is their right
- There _used_ to be a lot of OOC which has thankfully reduced to
quite a rarity of late.
- A judge, while very powerful, is not under to the ruler (conceived
RP wise and game mechanics wise too)
- A duke (who is a vassal to the ruler) can do as s/he wishes (mostly
because they are untouchable except for the extreme exile option)
- Lesser lords insult dukes at abandon and there are public spats
consistently. Which of course everyone else watches with amusements
and is always ready to take sides/comment on
Well, these are some of my thoughts and observations. There are some
in there which I do not like, while others which I think add to the
game.
However, the biggest issue I have seen (and not just because I have a
ruler character (but I do so I am slightly biased :) )) is that the
rulers have been rendered very important. Infact, in my realm in
Dwilight, it is almost the worst position to be in.
Well call me masochist..
Thanks for reading it till here. Your thoughts/comments? On the state
of things in Dwilight! The only way to deal with this is an attitude
change and a little education from Tom. Honestly, the worst one is
that we have the freedom/power to we SHOULD opppose/insult the ruler.
