Duchy knights are useful for funding priests. That's about it really. 
Well.. I suppose it's also useful to fit the odd ducal knight in without 
fiddling with the existing oaths.

until duchy is something other than city, the concept of duchy knight 
would be a bit strange.

Given all the talk about crown lands.. perhaps that concept could be 
extended to dukes? lord of a city is just another lord (instead of 
automatically being duke), dukes holds bits of land in every region in 
the duchy and ducal knight will hold estates in those bits of land.. 
sworn directly to the duke.

just don't ask me how the tax thing will work out. (like.. how much of 
the region the duke owns, etc).. don't even ask about food.
