an IC newspaper could easily be seen as IC knowledge, provided your 
character would be able to read it IC. The more difficult one would be 
family histories. though, you may've heard of them, because of their 
status, If you were on the same continent, or heard of them through a 
relative (ie, may've interacted with another one of your characters in 
some way)
