ha! that other thread was created just as I was typing that long winded 
post. I did think about changing the title.. but.. too lazy.

You do realise that what I said on its own isn't going to make any 
difference whether a knight get a slice of tax and an estate? Lords that 
run it close with estates and give out high taxes per head will continue 
to do so without taking on extra knight, whether the game give them a 
knight or not. What I was suggesting might, in theory, give new knights 
more of a chance in getting an estate.
