Not quite. You missed the fine print:

a) only the local tax share of knights is distributed as gold
b) only if they are within their duchy

the main problem with taxes-as-gold is that it theoretically allows you 
to stay in the field forever. With these two limits on it, it doesn't.

Anything that works and doesn't go against any of the core design 
principles.
