"Also, give people a chance to explain themselves before taking any
action, please! The apparent reason, and true reason, can be quite
different. Sure, sometimes the true reason is powergaming, while the
rest is a cover, but the opposite can also be true."

I share the cautious yes, putting a message in a vacuum and
disregarding the circumstances around it can lead to unnecessary
punishment. This brings up one of my biggest problems with the whole
"proper roleplay of the hierarchy" thing, so few people react when
something is wrong. Either the player explains ooc that you're being
improper while their character does nothing or they just ignore it
completely. Be offended dammit! And be offended IC! As a whole do so
much discussing ooc (I mean on the game level not the d-list) about
who's rolplay is improper where and how but our characters do nothing,
if our characters are actually affected by how they talk and not just a
player getting a lecture from another player then maybe we'll get
somewhere. I understand in some circumstances this is hard but in
general I'd like to see more IC reactions than OOC ones.
