[Discuss] Adventurers threaten the foundation of feudal society

In a feudal society, birth is *everything*. If you were born a peasent, you
will, and always will be, a peasent. Now, while this varied from place to
place, the BM setting seems to indicate that once a peasent, you will always
be one. Same for nobles. So how do you explain adventurers being knighted?
Simple: they were always nobles. It's a mistake being fixed.

Not that I necessary hold the path, I just felt like adding my ex-advy's
response to people harassing someone who captured an adventurer for
insulting the nobility:

*Letter from Felquiste* *(4 days, 2 hours ago)*
Message sent to everyone in your realm (52 recipients)
Even though my blood is pure, I was damned to an ingoble raising.
Mistreated, frowned upon, insulted by all. Hunting down like cattle by
Cathay, weeks of living on the outskirts in Nighthelm as Lasop fell, evading
the soldiers who reserved for me no better faith than Cathay would. Left
alone by parents who only just recently aknowledged me.

Yet I have never complained, I have never spoken against the nobility. I
even travelled the continent to foil the plans of those with the most evil
of plots, with the help of a man of these lands, I believe.

If he cannot accept his faite, then he is worthless and unworthy of freedom
and life. His threats are empty, there are always hundreds more of them that
would jump on any opportunity for profit and adventure, they deserve no
special treatment. Only if they persevere in the harshests of conditions
will you truly know where their hearts lie.

I cannot bear to hear some of you defend such an unworthy and out-of-line
nobody.

Felquiste Chénier (Knight of Lasop)

However, some societies did allow the lower class to raise in rank through
achievements, especially militarist societies. Everything Tom said though
seems to state that the BM setting is not one of those, but he may comment
on this still...
