[Discuss] A few Issues

I agree that IRL a colony of a parent country would share their same
government. I did manage to find a situation in history where a colony
didn't though. The crusader states set up somewhat different forms of
government than their European parents, though it wasn't too big a jump.
My issue here is it really limits RP in game. My character had no help from
the parent realm as far as setting up the colony went. The only thing he
had was permission from the ruler to recruit nobles the parent realm to join
him.
Our object was to create a realm of our own, and no official of the parent
realm gave us any restrictions. We chose a monarch and spent a great deal
of time ICly setting it up. Now we find our selves in a republic. The only
way I can think of to pull it off ICly is to RP my character as going crazy,
which would have him rebelled against and banned from the realm that I just
spent four months planning out and trying to get off the ground.
