I've sent my view in reply to Phillippe's post already. But this
comment strengthens my point.
Alex only took over SIC in order to send out orders to the army because
the Marshal was injured. He had no intention of actually being a SIC,
just using the title of SIC in order to send orders. That is my problem
with this.
The army should have a SIC in place, who should be on hand to cover in
times of need. It should not just hand the position to whoever happens
to want to make orders at the time. This is partly because it makes no
IC sense for the SIC to be passed around to whoever happens to be in the
mood to give orders (Men: "Huh? You're not our SIC. Why are you giving
us orders." New SIC: "Yes I am, see - just appointed." Men: "What!?
This is stupid; where's our real SIC gone?"), and it's also partly
because OOC it spoils the fun is one person is doing everything and not
letting anyone else play. Was there really no-one else in the whole
army who could have taken on the role of SIC while the Marshal was
injured? The original SIC, for example?
