Allow me to paraphrase a recent login notice: "Those who take extra pains to
get around the system will receive extra pain in reward." (actually, I like
that paraphrasing)
The point is that your general chose to take command personally and then
went through the system to get around this rule. The point is he was not
the second in command; he was the general and it is not his job to give
orders to the troop leaders, EVER. If he holds the two positions regardless
of the situation, that is probably okay (although Tom may see different).
The correct thing to do in this situation would have been to clarify that
orders would now come from the second in command, if anything. An even
safer correct thing to do would be to send the new orders for the army to
the second in command and make sure he knows his responsibility.
