This is Tom's game, and his view is that we should all look upon it as
playing a game with friends. If you are not willing to let your name be
known, then you are perfectly free to do so, provided you can be content
with only two characters.
It's just one of those things you have to learn to live with. One thing
that might help is to know that this game has been running continuously
for, what, seven years now? and no one, to my knowledge, has been
stalked with information discovered through the game. And there have
been plenty of people with greater reason to be stalked than I suspect
you have--a number of people have been publicly caught cheating, or in
other bad situations, and aside from the occasional flame email (and
possible problems between people who already knew each other OOC, but
that's not really relevant here) I don't think there have been any
serious OOC problems that came of it.
Personally, I'm not worried. If someone really wants to find me,
they're going to do it, whether or not I give out my real name on one
particular browser-based RPG, no matter how awesome it may be ;-)
