I would have marked it unbefitting as well.

However, I strongly think that when you judge a message, you are doing
so as a player, and you should disregard who your character is, as
well as who or where the message came from.

Either something is fine for a noble, or it's not.  It doesn't matter
what nation the message comes from, and judging them is an OOC action.
 Nobles of the entire island should be offended by the message, and
it's up to us as players to make that decision of where the line is.
