What the king said would only be law if everyone accepted him as their king,
as I already said. Nobles were very proud, and as we are now striving to do
in BM, had a lot of power. If the vast majority of the nobles didn't agree
with the king, then he had very little power, since the force he could wield
was through the nobles who followed him.

I accept that the thinking would be ahead of its time, my point was that
what is considered normal and dangerous is directly due to your immediate
environment. If you were in a realm full of nobles with 'deviant' thoughts
like that, they wouldn't be deviant, except to outside nobles. But that
would also be very very unlikely to ever happen.

But I feel that attempting to hold the game true to a medieval setting will
be detrimental to the player base as a whole, since it is a very intricate
way of playing, especially for people who are lightweight players. And as I
pointed out earlier, BM is becoming more and more of a fantasy game, with
demon invasions and wizards who can create spell-casting scrolls, so saying
to people that they are supposed to be acting like European medieval nobles
may seem just a little jarring.
