I agree as I did in the situation you're talking about, Timothy. If
you're explicitly having the conversation in public expect it to be
common knowledge, with how much role play associated depends on how
private it is. In a noisy tavern, in a hushed town, at least some. On
the street (or market) in your normal voice, far less. Nobles do not
usually spend time where commoners do and it tends to be less noisy (the
same could be said for a tavern I suppose).
