Two of my characters always (pretty much always anyway, unless I forget)
talk to their senior figures with respect, and use their full title
when addressing them by letter.
The third does sometimes, but when angry does nothing of the sort. It
continues to surprise me that this is never commented upon. I suppose
since no-one else bothers either, he's not seen as being rude by it.
It's really odd (to me) that when he says something obnoxious, the
complaints from the senior people is only ever about the content, and
never about the terribly disrespectful way he says it.
But then in a world where we have such little respect for each other,
and wouldn't think twice to refer to the American President as "Bush"
rather than "Mr Bush" or "President Bush", it's perhaps not surprising
that we find it so hard to do it in-game...
Not sure an extra medal would work. Medals can only be for being
particularly good - you can't be "outstanding" at using proper address.
You can only do it, or not do it. Whereas you _could_ be outstanding
with your RP, or making things fun, or being trustworthy to the game.
I have a feeling that you're as likely to get people to address senior
realm members with correct courtest as I am to get people using the
right sort of letter/roleplay/report for the right thing. Although
billed as an RP game, most people play it more for the action than for
the RP (me included), but sadly many of them can't do that while still
respecting the RP rules for everyone else. Ah. Back to lack of respect
again... what's the world coming to ;-)
