You misunderstand the purpose of the system.
It is not meant to punish us, the players. It is meant to simulate
the actual muttering and loss of good name/honour that would follow a
particularly egregious pronouncement from a noble. It is hoped that
this will tend to push the players more toward correct speech, but
that's just a side bonus, I think.
