Not to reply to myself or anything, but I came up with another idea
to go with this that I think could really make this work better.
As it stands, if a region is taken and its knights all switch
instantly--or even if they're given the choice, and decide to switch--
they'll most likely be in the middle of what has just become an enemy
army!
I would propose that a new state be created, almost like an inverted
form of "rogue", that such knights would be put into for, say, 2 days
following the TO of their region: a limbo state in which the knights
in question are no longer really part of the realm they were in, but
not yet really part of the realm that took their region, due to
uncertainty on all sides as to which way their loyalties will fall
out. They would be *unable* to participate in any battles for the
duration of the time they are in this state, they would be unable to
use any banks--though they could, perhaps, keep their bonds if they
chose *not* to follow their region--and, basically, unable to use any
of the amenities of either realm. They would lose any positions--
Marshal or Council member--that they had held. They should also,
most likely, be unable to message anyone in either realm except the
ruler, and the other knights of the taken-over region.
This would give those who would choose to follow their realm time to
get away from the soon-to-be-enemy army...and allow a realm to
*really hurt* another realm by taking over a region with a lot of
knights. Not only would it put a good chunk of their army
temporarily out of action, but if you took over the region of their
Judge--or, worse, General!--he would lose his post, and they'd have
to elect/appoint a new one.
