The practical effect of the arguments against this are that it makes 
micromanagement harder.

In order for me to properly use the marshal system, I have to have 3 people 
'in the loop' at all times (5 people if they both have backups) and ready to 
relay orders.

If I can't cover for them, that means I'm asking *more* of my marshals, 
which makes Marshals yet another not-at-all lighteweight job, which means 
I'm more likely to simply forego using them and micromanage simply via realm 
orders.

I'm just being honest here. I think the marshal system is more ICly 
appropriate and better for RP. But as a user of the system, if the game is 
actively making it difficult for me to communicate with the people the 
marshal system wants me to communicat with, I won't use it.

There is absolutely nothing gained by trying to force-feed the player base 
this way. If you want people to use Marshals, then make marshals a) 
important and b) easy to use.
