I will not have words placed in my characters' mouths, nor actions done 
in his name that he did not do.  That's not a game -- in a game choices 
matter.

The only logical conclusion is that for some mysterious reason, the 
claim takes precedence over whatever procedure the realm had in place. 
Given that the in-game justification is "heredity," which is of no 
importance anywhere else, there is no hook for players to believably 
build upon.
