Nothing has been removed here. The Duke must still convince his knights to
follow his lead. Just because the knight is automatically converted to the new
realm does not mean the knight will stay, or that the knight is loyal. How do
you know that knight is really loyal to your new realm, and not merely staying
so he can spy on your new realm and sap your gold?

The knights of the new realm still have to decide if they will honor their oaths to
the duke or lord and stay with the realm, or if they wish to break that oath and
return to the parent.

It still is. Everyone still has to chose. The game is merely aligning the character
with what should be the default choice: To uphold their oath of fealty.

They still must make the same choice, but the options are now reversed.
