Another thing to consider is whether or not any of the religions WANT forced conversions. A lot has been mentioned about Catholicism and Islam's historical record of forced conversions and pogroms, sure... but what about the faiths that don't want any part of that? Many other faiths are neutral towards converts, or - in the case of Judaism at least - somewhat discouraging.Something as central to a character as religion should be encouraged, yes, but certainly not with ham-fisted game mechanics, and DEFINITELY not into a player-created faith that may or may not encourage it.To provide an In-Game example: Kamido, in the Colonies would be emphatically against any forced conversions to the faith, or even being named the official state religion of any realm. Incidentally, (just to provide a counterpoint to some of these blanket assertions about state religions) it's the largest religion on the island, with temples & shrines in a few different realms, followers in over half the island's regions... and was founded in a theocracy that openly welcomes most other religions' priests.-Murakama
