The only thing I can think of is that people who are complaining that small 
realms are at a disadvantage is that they are misinterpreting things. They see 
things like smaller armies, less nobles, lower tax income, etc., and interpreting 
these as the game being tilted against them. In reality, it's an inherent property 
of being small.

I don't see any inherent disdvatages to being a small realm beyond the 
expected consequences of being small: You will not be a military superpower. If 
you try to go toe-to-toe with a military superpower, you will lose.
