No: you are directly *sworn* to your liege, and answerable to him,  
and he to his liege, and he to the King.  However, you are still  
(expected to be) *loyal* to your liege, your Duke, *and* your King,  
provided said loyalties do not directly conflict.

I have heard the argument you make used to justify breaking realm  
laws and other such foolish things, which is *not* the way the system  
should work, by my understanding.
