Money is useful for an adventurer, to an extent. The more money you have, the 
more expensive rest options you can use, and the less time you need to spend 
resting.

What would be great is if adventurers could sell normal items to other 
adventurers. As of now, you can only sell Unique Items to nobles, and *give* 
items to other adventurers. You can't demand your 4 silver in return for that 
blanket or bedroll.
