Ehem. Well, more relevant to the topic....

We found a fun method in Irombrozia that I think would work pretty
well, benefits all parties involved, and gives good RP. A contest. We
created the RP position of "Royal Questor", sort of.... head
adventurer, the chosen adventurer of the King in case he needs
something. Basically, we give quests. This being the first one. The
Royal Questor has jurisdiction over other adventurers (we nobles
don't want to bother with the directly managing the common folk
unless we have to). If he's beaten in a duel, whoever beats him
becomes Questor. He has as much power as he is able to wield and,
also, the ear of the King.

Plus, we maintain a pompous attitude to our adventurers. If they got
executed, we'd be sort of ticked for the same reasons we don't like
people massacreing our peasants. After all, they are OUR peasants.
They feed us, we sort of like them in one piece. Similarly, the
adventurers are scum. But they are OUR scum. And we happen to like
some scum more than other scum.

We even gave adventurers permission to kill each other, we overlook
any crimes committed against each other among them because we have a
live and let live attitude. So long as they don't bother us, we don't
bother them.

Plus, if you make contests for adventurers, it adds, well,
competition. They'll rush to kill monsters and undead. It works,
really. We killed off an inordinate amount of undead and monsters in
a very short time that way.

We let'em do what they want, and mostly ignore them. But, hey, if we
happen to be pleased with them, we might give them a cookie!
