[Discuss] Is Fun Dead? End of RP

>> This game is supposed to be fun for everyone

If the game is only fun when you're winning, then I suggest you might be a
little too tied to the game on a personal level.

Key word there being 'might,' however, as I don't know your situation and
haven't played on the EC in months.

But the extent of your argument appears to be 'the game is only fun when
conflict is fair.' Well, there's certainly more to be said for a fair
conflict in terms of the stratgey part of the game - there's fun to be had
in seeing which side can gain the upper hand, sure.

But there's also the RP part of the game -- which you seem to think is
dead -- and part of that is that the way your characters behave have
consequences. If you're a small realm, you need to wheel and deal like small
realms did in history. If a small realm ends up at war with huge realms,
they've done something seriously wrong.

That's not to say morally or ethically wrong (i.e. not 'they deserve it')
but politically and strategically wrong. How could Tom or the Titans
possibly intervene in something like this, even if they wanted to? It'd take
up so much time and resources to try and 'balance' conflict and it would be
a lot of Deus Ex Machina of 'whoosh, your superior forces suddenly have
enormous difficulties with x, y, and z such that they are no longer
superior!' People would be up in arms!

This sort of thing can be resolved ICly. If it really is a small group of
people OOCly masterminding, I don't know, the entire island, then there
should be ample grounds to stir up discontent among the nobles who aren't in
charge. It's difficult to hold big realms together for precisely that
reason.

I guess my feeling is not 'oh you deserve a flamewar', because I get that
you're not having fun, but it's more -- unless somebody is cheating or
abusing the system, how is this anything other than a natural product of the
way realms conduct themselves ICly?
