[Discuss] Future of Religion

Coming in a little late, I know, but the Religion aspect is Important
to me. And to Gold Recluse of the Ryou Gu Tykou. I appreciate R.
Cronan and M. Runyon's ideas for the most part (going back quite a few
weeks).

As for the "God vs. devotion" discussion, it is moot, more RL than RP.
This is about Game Mechanics and options.

First and Easiest, I would like to see Priests (surely High Priests)
able to converse with members (leaders) of other religions on their
Island.

Ditto "fodder" - religions should be allowed to merge if they
essentially believe in the same thing. Or Religious Cooperation might
be considered. A Priest could spend his "Influence hours" to affect
"Variant" peasants along with his own Faithful (perhaps at 70%
effectiveness?)

Ditto Mark Moss: I would like to see the Abilities of Priests expanded
and Improved. GR ocassionally (RP) "blesses" a Knight with improved
Courage, Speed, or such. It would be far more "realistic" if he could
really have such an effect, altering the stats of a character going
into a situation, or improving his odds for effectiveness for a few
days.
"Piety" would work well for this. There would have to be a Cost for
the buffs that a Priest could confer, "paid for" similar to a Judge's
loss of Honour for torturing a prisoner. Perhaps he could replenish
his Piety by delivering "Alms" from the buffed Knight to a Temple.

"Cursing" enemies would cut their hrs-per-day (temporarily, like a
cripppling), reduce their Honour (can't lead as many Cavalry, etc.),
reduce skill (blinded. maimed.)

Priests need a "stealth" mode.

GR is a dominant Priest in his area, but what if he was facing a
powerful invasive "evil force"? Backed into a corner, might he
consider "converting" himself and his Temples to the invader-faith?
Could he then use the new faith to bless his "home nation's"
interests? How might a 'foreign' priest be convinced to "see the
light"? (without being seen as a 'traitor' politically?)

GM "gods" - bad idea. That would create too many GMs in The Colonies,
for sure, and probably also in Atamara from what I have seen.
Could a High Priest attain "Deity" status with very high Piety?

If a Founder leaves (and the character 'dies', or doesn't care about
his religion anymore) When does the Highest Priest rise to "Founder
status, with full control of all options?

~~~eb~~~
