I find your statment amusing. I have played someone so good it hurt to look
at him from the shine on his armour, and someone so evil multiple nations
teamed up to kill him and they hated each other! The evil character was far
easier, and rewarding, he gained more power, and control in two weeks then
the hero did in a year. How you may ask? Why by lying and cheating the
entire way of course, evil doesn't mean stupid after
all. A thug will insult people randomly,
but an evil knight, why he'll promise you the world if only you'll do
this one little thing for him.....
And I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those kids. Okay
scholars and heroes but the character thought of them as children ;) Heck
that's not even to mention the more neutral character who hasn't acutally
died yet surprisingly, they've got so much blood on their hands from dark
deeds they've done that it's a surprising they can act normal.
Further, there are plenty of evil people, just not all of them think they're
evil. Only a few, really odd madmen would actually think their evil, most
just do what they feel is justified and necessary at the time, bringing
great suffering and pain to
others. "For the greater good, or at least my/our good." is one of the
most evil justifications you'll find.
Well okay, then there's the Jarbosh cult but they are crazy as all hell, so
there's no surprise there that they're a bunch of evil bastards.
So I assure you, there is no lack of evil characters.
