It's not *that* high. fight a war for 6 months turning up to most battles
and you'll pribably have the leadership for them all. I think it's the 50%
mark for the retreat % changing ones.

Just like old times, eh? :-)
The marshal settings won't be useless, they just won't be a panacea any
more. If your settings to attack are "inf: front, line, agressive, Archers:
middle, line, normal" or something identical on the line part, marshals
using inf charge will stop errant nobles in their army from having inf on
middle, for example.
