My woodlands requires 30 total (15 in each). My city does the same. The
thing is, the city produces over 3 times as much gold, more if you don't
count maintenance and even more if you consdier I run a higher tax rate in
the woodlands (sometimes).
That said, even with no estates enlarged (can't afford to waste gold on
something without an effect when you've got a war to fight) I can afford 4
knights as a count, assuming keeping current lord share the same plus taxes
my knights get (e.g. if I get 20% region share now and am offering knights
10%, I keep 30%).
