I think you're making this a bigger problem then it really is. For
example, Rancagua once had a general named "Walrus of Doom" who RP'd
himself as an anthropomorphic walrus who rode into battle on a
hippopotamus. (IIRC, this was before Tom said that all characters are
human.)
Now, if your character doen't accept that the Walrus of Doom really is a
walrus, and his steed a hippopotamus, then your character's RP should
reflect how your character views the Walrus of Doom. (Man and Horse in
Walrus and Hippo suits, unsubstantiated rumors, mental illness, etc.)
