[Discuss] Battlemaster is a tyranny

Been out of town for a few days, just catching up. Have to respond to
this point.

So someone like *me* shouldn't have ever played this game. Thanks.

It's been a couple years since I've recounted this story. The second
character I created was in a little realm called Rancagua (which I
picked off the list solely because of it's banner, I'll admit). I was
greeted with a bulletin that said "we're not allowing any new
characters right now. Go to another realm or you'll be banned."
Friendly bunch.

Luckily, it wasn't my first character. I had a few days' experiences
in another realm, so even though this turned me off to this particular
realm and leaders, I moved on and gave the game another chance. If
that had been my first character, though, it might also have been my
last.

A lot of people think that kind of bulletin is harmless. It would be
to me nowadays. I'd creatively object and fight it, or I'd accept it
and find a more welcoming place. That's not the point - it's not how I
thought back then. It nearly ruined the game for me as a new player,
and that's why it's frowned upon now, just like this fine business.

PS - Side note. On my first day, my first character scouted around,
set travel for a region I didn't realize was enemy territory, and got
whipped by three enemy units. Some people would have banned me for
that these days, if it were possible. "Wasting resources! Or he must
be a spy! We don't want his kind here!"
