Allow me to explain a bit more. I will not take one look at someone's
family history and ban them (unless, of course, that character's
history has something on it like, "seceded city X, high treason of
the worst sort, almost destroyed realm XYZ" and my realm is XYZ. Then
its ALMOST a one-look ban). But, I will look at a family history and
go, "Hm. I'm going to keep an eye on this person, and have my sources
dig up their past, their dirty secrets, their fears and triumphs, and
every detail available about them. And I'm going to monitor their
behavior." Firstly, thats because Hireshmont, my judge character,
is... well.... Hireshmont. But all of my characters are like that to
some degree, though less than him.

If by, "welcome" you mean have my character pass them a beer, slap
their back and go, "Welcome to realm X you habitual backstabber you!"
then no, I will not welcome them. Now, if they exhibit very suspcious
behavior and have a dirty past, they will very quickly find me in
opposition against them.

RPing troublemakers is good, its good RP. And troublemakers get
punished. If Laura arrived in Irombrozia, she would probably be given
some odd glances, because she glorifies the life of a thief,
something that, realistically, few/no nobles would do in Medieval
Europe. Robin Hood being the one exception, and we dont even know he
existed.

So perhaps we're just going to have to disagree. A dirty past affects
you in real life, and will affect you in BM.

Plus, those who read family histories dont end up with mad ego-
obsessed habitual backstabbers as royal dukes, so its a plus in my
eyes. As you said, such dukes ruin fun. Thus, not judging on the past
ruins fun. Its a slippery slope, so its a balance, but since my
characters are all fairly egotistical and suspicious anyways, and all
of them are fairly aloof too, I'll err on the side of suspicion and
distrust. It earns my characters enemies, and enemies=fun in BM, in
my eyes. Especially very capable enemies driven almost mad with rage
and anger at my characters. I love watching my characters get
themselves into pickles, and find they've made enemies of almost
everyone.

And I definitely hope people judge my characters on their past. Its a
pain in the rectum areas to have to restablish my characters
everywhere they go.

But no, such a character shouldnt be deleted I'd say. Just make sure
you have somewhere that will welcome you. i.e. its best to only tick
off one side of a war.
