Step one: Proclaim: "Great hoards of monters and undead are coming!
Our only salvation is to worship their god, EvilGod, and pray for him
to save us. Then the hoards will leave us alone and only kill out
enemies! Come, join my religion and be saved - it will only cost you
50 gold!"

Step two: Collect lots of gold

Step three: Run away before the invasion starts and people realise you
were lying the whole time and they're going to get eaten anyway.

Religion is a wonderful thing...
