If the RP is just a bit out of character, then simply and politely
contact the writer and say 'The way you wrote X wasn't really the way
my character behaves.  Could you possibly run through anything
involving him/her with me first next time to make it more in keeping
with their personality".

If it's a more serious contravention of your character's personality
then the same as above, plus if you feel the need to clear your
character's name perhaps an OOC message to the same recipient group
(or as close to it as you can get to it) stating politely that you
feel the actions described are not something your character would have
done, and they should either ignore the role-play, or assume those
actions were, instead, carried out by some unnamed NPC.
