That could be solved by recruiting in that region from any recruitment
centers in the duchy that region is in.

I can think of a bigger problem, though - a home region that's no
longer inside the realm.

Plus, if your home region was too far from the front, you'd just
create a new one closer and switch everyone over. Same problem we had
before the old duchy system, with it's liege-for-life setup.
