I run from a raid for a reason. A RAM disk would mean power loss = loss 
of a lot of data.

I can (and will) experiment with MySQLs delayed insert feature for less 
important stuff. But quite honestly, anything that uses up more RAM will 
hurt the db more than it helps.

That, and the db data alone is twice the amount of RAM the machine has...
