An alliance lasting that long is unlikely to be purely strategic.  A
lot of long alliances in BM are just because you don't want an enemy
on your border - they aren't RPed as sharing common interests, or a
common culture, or anything. (Some are, certainly, I'm not saying
no-one RPs alliances properly, I'm just saying many don't)
