Small realms have an advantage because they can send messages across
the realm quicker. You can send a message to the capital from the
front line in less than an hour - in a large realm it could take most
of the turn.
A lot of people seem to have the idea that all messages will be
delayed by hours - it's only messages over a long distance that get
delayed a long time. Sending messages to your region is instant,
sending messages to a neighbouring region will take a few minutes. If
you're ordering your troops from anywhere near the front line, it
won't harm you.
