Has anyone considered any possible infiltrator implications for a messaging system that would take longer to reach people?
I mean are there those out there that think it might be a good idea for an infiltrator to be able to intercept messages? Perhaps only messages from a foreign realm to a foreign real, or from ruler to ruler, general to general, etc., but I think that there are some interesting possibilities.
Take for instance that in your realm as the general you want to send a message from region A to region G. The message contains battle plans and orders for your troops.
Using the route finder, your scribe comes up with the best way to deliver the message. Obviously it couldn't take the same time to delver the message as it would to travel to region G form region A, but perhaps 10% the time? So if it is a 47 hour trip from region A to region G, it would become 4.7, or 5 hours, to delivea message? I don't know, I am just throwing out an idea.
However if there is an enemy infil in any of the regions between region A and region G, then they could have the opportunity to either get a copy of the essage, or steal them completely.
Personally I think stealing them completely is a bit harsh, but getting a copy of them would be fair. Think about it the infil masquerades as a merchant and befriends a scribe travelli9g from A to G. Offers him some food and drink on a rest break and they break into conversation where the infil learns, or has an opportunity tosee, the orders.
Just a few suggestions that might spice things up. Also if realms found out about what their leadership was sending to other realms, it might increase some of the politics and intrigue a little more in this game. Please don't just csdier the infil implications but also the possibilities for how long the messages could take. If 10% is not adequate, then maybe 20%, I don't know, but it seems to me the system for the route finder is already there, something similar for messaging might be easy to do using that system.
Wars have been started over less.
