[Discuss] Theoretical realistic messaging

I support the idea of messages taking greater time to reach their
recipient the further away they are, while messages to realm-mates /
allies in the same region get delivered instantly.

For one thing it leads to armies having to work autonomously. The
general can worry about overall war plans, but the battles need an
army leader who's present to control them.

Small nations become more efficicent since their lines of
communication are shorter and therefore quicker.

Large empires (like Rome) have an increasingly difficult time
maintaining their bloated, overblown territories... if region reports
are coming in with the same delays as IC messages, then it could be a
couple of days (rather than instantly) before anyone in authority
learns that those pesky barbarians are back in the northern
hinterlands.

And yes, for diplomacy, you have to meet, or accept that it will takes
weeks, or even months to hammer out a deal.

All good as far as I can see.
