Well, I can't say that, as a judge on atamara, I'm terribly happy with
one thing - the lost "last seen" feature. Since I hate punishing
characters for their players not signing on to do an order, but it
happens inevitably due to lack of evidence. On the other hand, the
laissez-faire approach means I wind up caring about this less since I
won't get inadvertently punished for inadvertently punishing, and I do
like that.

So the hands-off approach works well with the missing "last seen"
thing, but if either one was back to normal (and not the other) it
would be a problem.

I can't speak for other judges-players, but I still try to hold true
to the social contract anyway, and RP like mad. Less worrying about
OOC punishment is good since it frees up energy for in-character
politicking.

There is still potential (if not more potential) for abuse, though.

All in all I am in favor of laissez-faire approaches in general, and
player-controlled social systems. But the problem with that is it
could spiral out of control - it really depends a lot on the
particular players and situations now, and less on technical
violations of OOC rules.

In conclusion I like things the way they are on Atamara but do feel a
bit more responsibility and wonder if all players could handle that. I
think having the "angry god" around would be less than good, but I
can't say for sure not having one around for any of my chars.
