Not at all true anymore. Just as an example, take Sint.
If they lose Firebalt, they are still very much alive, assuming thats
all they lost. See? The "lose your capitol you're probablyd ead"
mentality is changing, because we've got capitols that arent the
heart and soul of a realm.
Or take Luz de Bia. Why oh why would they move their capitol to a
broder city that just seceded from them a few months before? Heck, if
a city had staged a secession and caused a civil war in medieval
Europe, you probably wouldnt see anybody moving the capitol there
for, well, a generation or two.
Honestly, I think you shouldnt be allowed to move your capitol to a
region bordering another realm, or at least another peace, neutral or
warring realm. Naturally, if they just fight their way to the
capitol, you now have a border capitol. But you cant CHANGE to a border.
Or make changing capitol cost a huge sum of cash. Basically, if a
realm HAS a capitol, and it tries to change, have a pricetag of, say,
1000 gold per region in distance, or 100 per hour of travel or
something. Now, this wouldnt hurt a realm that just lost its capitol,
because it LOST a capitol. It isnt "moving the capitol", its
"establishing a new capitol". I guess the two options would need to
be differentiated. Basically, you can only establish a new one when
the old one has been TOed.
Also, I dont think you should be able to put a capitol somewhere
where there is an unresolved claim. I dont know if Ashborn and Sint
signed a peace treaty or anything, but I believe Firebalt was
unresolved.
So there's just my bit.
