They hold mor einfluence than you might think.

Lets take Ubent for example. One of their current(or was it recently
lost? i forget) southern mountain regions produced something like
30-40% of their income. Thats pretty influential.

Or we'll say there's a realm barely making its food needs, then it
loses a big rural region. Thats a big loss. Normal lordships can be
quite influential.

I think I am a newer player, and I know I wouldnt rejoice. Its funny
how almost everyone on this list is an old fart themselves. Lets all
sound off who on here has been in game less than 1 year, shall we? I
think I'm on 8 months now. Not new, but newer. Most players are quiet
people who wouldnt mind having a lordship, but arent going to do
anything outstanding to deserve it. Well, I think they should have to
do something outstanding to deserve it.

A player is not entitled to a lordship, or a council position, or
what have you. They are a reward and, considering the stress involved
in some of them, at times a dubious one. I know that in my short
stint as a ruler, I got a cumulative 5 minutes of joy from the
position, which isnt to say I enjoyed the game less, merely didnt
particularly think the position itself is some great bringer-of-joy.

If getting positions to new players were so important, it would be an
inalienable right. As Timothy did, lets take these rules to the
extreme. One position per account, okay. Well, if we continue this
course of making it easier for new players to get positions, we will
soon try and keep the player:region ratio 1:1, something I think we
can all agree is impossible, and it just shouldnt be done.

Lordships, council positions, etc, are rewards, not rights.

Why was the initial restriction put into place? And if West Continent
comes anytime before 2k players, we'll be fine, its a big continent
from what I've seen.

Powergame themselves? Lets use some semantics here, how exactly do
you define powergaming?

I define it as the "anything to win" attitude.

Now, I wouldnt say its powergaming to try and have my characters be
successful. There is a difference between picking a goal, and
striving for it, and taking what comes your way, and trying to "win".
If trying to get elected to a position based upon your merits is
powergaming then.... umm.... I cant think of a rational arguement
here, so I'll just be blunt: Thats just wrong.
