Don't worry, there'll be change.

I have a few things in the pipe. For example, now that your prisoners 
can actually be people of power, how about keeping them longer and for a 
higher ransom? King Richard was kept for ransom for how long? A few years?

No, because that wasn't a problem so far. It'll be now. Which, in turn, 
will make *the players* ask for change and a new ruler, instead of him 
being forced on them.
