Moreover, anyone familiar with courtly intrigue knows that the most 
friendly-worded request is often the most important order. When a king 
gets friendly, something is going on. The guy who for all purposes 
_owns_ the kingdom and everyone in it doesn't say "would you mind, 
please" without a reason.
