I'd prefer not to choose.  Hopefully someone can come up with a way of
letting us have both.

I think my NPC nobles voting idea might get part way there - if
everyone in the realm wants a particular person (say, the realm is
RPed as a true monarchy and the vote is just a technicality), then
they'll win, but otherwise they probably won't.
